Aphesis House Phase I

Aphesis House was been run by James Settles for over 15 years. Once a client of the program, Aphesis House was a leadership and spiritual program designed to help men leaving prison become reintroduced into get them started to be what God created them to be.
James Settles purchased the property in 2020. While the bank said that the buildings were better torn down and reimagined, a lot of elbow grease and sweat equity, went into refurbishing the abandoned buildings and overhauling them into safe, clean and beautiful spaces that serves 20 men and giving them a second chance at life.

Aphesis Means Forgiveness
Scores of volunteer subcontractors, donors, and community advocates came to help make Aphesis House a reality. Whenever they visited they remarked how excited they were to help and make a difference. They also wanted to know what 'Aphesis' meant. Aphesis means forgiveness. James was adamant that his foundation would focus on giving men a second chance and tat they should experience this not just from God but society. He pledge to prepare his clients to be outstanding citizen and to show what God's grace can do in the lives of those who are willing to change.

One of the most exciting parts of the Aphesis House design was the refurbishment of Building B (above). Built in 1931, this building originally served as a hunting cabin. The stone-hewn base and fireplace were salvaged and cleaned for patrons to experience their beauty for years to come. The rough-columns of the porch were were repurposed and stained, all relics of historic and unique edifice.
